Quote about the newest warcraft novel Tides of War description:

"The destruction wrought by the Horde’s brazen attack irrevocably transforms Jaina, propelling the kindhearted diplomat down a path of grief and vengeance"

Well, just great. That's just great. If loved the low levels of female leadership in WoW before, you'll love what they're doing to Jaina in the next expansion. Blizzard writers have taken the depth and usefulness of a grieving Tyrande Whisperwind and combined it with the Lady MacBeth-esque wrath of Sylvanas Windrunner and put them into a single character whilst destroying the only female in a leadership position left, even if a minor one, that was a sane, intricate, actually interesting character. I've know Jaina was going to "just go crazy" in this expansion for some time now (which, you know, Blizzard hasn't exploited enough; Illidan, Kael'thas, Malygos, the Zandalar trolls, etc.), but seeing it novelized, and those two specific words - grief and vengeance, the two words primarily used to embody what was wrong with the only to actual female leaders in the game - really got under my skin...

Yeah, I just... ._.

Maybe it's because I was sheltered and lucky enough to grow up with awesome shows like Recess and Pepper Ann which had great female characters, but damn. It always shocks me how much latent sexism there is in the USA specifically.

I think, about halfway through MoP, I might start a new protest thread to get better development for female characters and leaders. Only halfway because I am still holding out hope they won't screw over Jaina THAT badly. But... yeah.

I really like Jaina, so I'm still holding out hope =x

Keep in mind, a crazy Jaina won't bother me.. (I like crazy characters) .. as long as it's done right.

I don't know what you mean Brumboy. A Blonde girl, suffering the traumatic loss of his beloved land by ruthless warlord. Oh and lets not forget she will become a vengeful woman and maybe her hair will turn white and.....

Morharna: ANYONE!! want some Cheese? Cheddar I have Gouda some Blue Goat cheese and Raptor?...

/Clears throat

Is not like this had happen before in the warcraft universe*coughs Silvanas coughs*. I mean the story devs wouldn't reuse something like that so blatantly ... thats being a complete Carebarro (sorry i don't know if there is a word on English for someone who do something so blatantly in your face that they should be ashamed of themselves)

Hey! I don't have problems with making a character go a darker path, I have problems with reused formulas and I mean if wanted a dark female character for the aliance I know a Dwarf she is a mother and she could be perfect for a evil matriarch style to stain the goodie do good image of those pink skinned... what I was talking about?

I am still freakin' bummed they didn't go the Morgana Le Faye route with Moira too.

And Don- I think 'bastard' and 'idiot' are used for that, though they have different connotations so it's probably best to go with that word. /writes it down

And Trix- my main problem (outside of possible charater derailment) is that if she goes cray-cray, we will have only a single sane female leader in lore. And she has gotten no use since the MMO began, taking a back seat to her big strong man. 9_9 Just look at the percentages- how many female leaders are crazy vs. how many male ones? We don't have a single competent female leader who has been present in WoW lore (referring to the MMO). With the males, we have Varian, Vol'jin, Thrall (bad characterization now, but present and sane), Magni, Cairne, Baine, Velen, Genn (at least he had the starting zone...), and arguably the gnome leader who I always forget the name of despite seeing him at various intervals.
